Most eagerly awaited.

The K-drama adaptation of the popular webtoon and web novel . Expected in the Summer.

Filming began in Prague around June 2025, with crews scouting castles in the Czech Republic and Germany. The production aims for an elegant, high-fantasy European look.

The Remarried Empress is officially in production and is scheduled to premiere in the second half of 2026. The series will be available for streaming exclusively on Disney+.

The production features a “powerhouse” cast:

  • Empress Navier Ellie Trovi: Played by Shin Min-a (Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha).
  • Prince Heinrey: Played by Lee Jong-suk (Big Mouth, W).
  • Emperor Sovieshu: Played by Ju Ji-hoon (Kingdom, Light Shop).
  • Rashta: Played by Lee Se-young (The Red Sleeve)

Production Team:

  • Director: Jo Soo-won (Pinocchio, I Can Hear Your Voice).
  • Writers: Yeoh Geena and Hyun Choong-yeol (The Uncanny Counter).

The drama follows Navier, the “perfect” empress of the Eastern Empire, whose life is upended when her husband, Emperor Sovieshu, brings home a mistress (Rashta) and demands a divorce. In a bold move, Navier agrees to the divorce on the condition that she be allowed to remarry Prince Heinrey of the Western Empire.

  • European Setting: Despite early rumours of a historical Korean setting, the production has been scouting locations in the Czech Republic and Germany to maintain the European-inspired aesthetic of the original webtoon.
  • Fantasy Elements: The story includes fantasy romance tropes, such as Heinrey’s secret ability to transform into a bird.
