Colony directed and written by Yeon Sang-ho, the acclaimed filmmaker behind Train to Busan. Co-written by Choi Gyu-seok, the movie delivers a high-tech twist to the K-zombie genre by introducing infected creatures with a terrifying hive-mind collective intelligence.

This has to be the must see movie of the year for fans of high adrenalin or zombie films, it smashed records in Korea and has a superb cast and director. Review will be available at the weekend.

The story kicks off at a biotechnology conference inside the high-rise Doongwoori Building. An embittered, rogue scientist intentionally unleashes a rapidly mutating bio-terror virus. As the attendees begin to grotesque-ly transform, authorities swiftly quarantine and seal off the entire facility. A small group of trapped survivors must navigate the claustrophobic floors and work together to stay alive. They are forced to adapt as the infected continuously evolve—gaining enhanced senses, agility, and a shared intelligence that alerts the entire horde the second one zombie spots a human.

Yeon Sang-ho – (Director/writer)revitalised the global zombie genre with his 2016 masterpiece Train to Busan. Initially known for his dark, gritty adult animation films, he has since built a massive reputation as South Korea’s premier horror and thriller filmmaker, spanning live-action blockbusters, animations, and high-budget television series

Ji Chang-wook plays Choi Hyun-seok, a dedicated security guard who spearheads efforts to protect survivors and shields his sister amid the outbreak.

Jun Ji-hyun, also known globally by her English name Gianna Jun, is one of South Korea’s most successful, highest-paid, and influential actresses. Rising to meteoric fame in the early 2000s, she became a cultural icon throughout Asia and earned the affectionate title of “Nation’s First Love“.

Shin Hyun-been is celebrated for her chameleon-like ability to fully immerse herself into diverse roles. She is best known internationally for her breakthrough portrayal of the meticulous and endearing resident Jang Gyeo-wool in the mega-hit medical drama Hospital Playlist.

Koo Kyo-hwan plays Seo Young-cheol, a genius but deeply unsettling biologist who is directly responsible for the film’s catastrophic virus outbreak.
